Huntsville, Alabama

The designs for this store tap into the exciting history of Huntsville that earned it it's name "Rocket City". The city's close association with US space missions, as showcased at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, helped us create a concept around a fundamental component of space engineering, the triangle. The triangle, in three dimensions actually becomes a pyramid. Once you start putting these together you start to create a basic space frame structural system.  If you flatten the pyramid and keep it two dimensional, like we did, you can begin to create some interesting patterns, like a hexagon.

The materials for this project include: Sassafras from John Harlow (Huntsville, AL); Reclaimed heart pine from Ken Russell (SE Georgia); custom fabricated table bases from Crawler Fabrications (Savannah, GA).
